Seattle

Arrived at BWI and flew out to Seattle via Phoenix. Before leaving BWI we were asked if we were biking the Tour de France. I guess we look the part of professional riders already.

During our layover in Phoenix Jeff brought good karma to our trip by catching an older gentleman as he fell out of his wheelchair. The wheelchair was being pushed by a priest who was greatly appreciative. Definitely good karma.

We were able to sweet talk our way into renting a HUGE Ford F-150 quad cab pick-up truck to get us to our starting point in Anacortes. While here in Seattle we made a stop to the REI flagship store which was impressive to say the least (they have mountain biking and hiking trails as part of the store).

Jeff,
Just took a look at your blog and saw your route. I'll be at my parents house in Wausau, WI from July 9-20. If you're passing through and need a place to camp, shower, get water or food please let us know what we can do. They have a big house on the river there and you two can sleep indoors or out and do any tune-ups or repairs if you need to.
Best of luck!!,

Mutt and Jeff: We hope you started Le Tour on a beautiful, sunny morn with full stomachs and empty bladders. You're in our prayers for a safe and enlightening journey and we will contact you again for an opportunity you may wish to try once on the northern plains. Hello, fellows! What a great ride already, eh? If - IF - you aren't familiar with the Irishman Luka Bloom's song "Acoustic Motorbike" you may want to be introduced via someone else's photo montage on YouTube: type in All Around US & Acoustic Motorbike and enjoy this delightful ear and eye candy (I don't recommend the Kever53 version also on YT). Maureen and I have used the CD alone for a number of years as I ate a lite breakfast before heading out on my MS-150 rides; it will drift back to the front of your brains as needed during this journey. Have fun, stay safe, and HAVE FUN. ~ the Spoken4
